The Red Cross was founded in Geneva in 1865 and the city was the headquarters of the United Nations from 1920 to 1946. It is also a great place for tourists from all over the world. Jet d’Eau
It is a mighty waterjet of water soars. It has become the symbol of the city. The powerful jet propels almost 500 liters a second at the height of 145 meters.
Temple de Saint-Pierre
The cathedral dates back to 1150. The church located at the highest point of Geneva’s old town and features some gothic elements. Place du Bourg-de-Four
Located in the heart of Geneva’s Old Town, Place du Bourg-de-Four near the temple of de Saint-Pierre. It was the oldest square in the city. Today, it has become a prominent tourist site in the city.
Jardin Botanique
It is in the southeast of the Ariana between the Avenue de la Paix and the Chemin de l’Impératrice. It was built in 1902. Its gardens, conservatory, greenhouses cover about 28 hectares and feature more than twelve thousand species of plants and trees.
Musée d’Art et d’Histoire
It is an art and history museum. It is one of the three largest museums in Geneva. The museum displays fine arts and archeology collection. The collection includes weapons, Greek and Roman art works, Middle Eastern and Eastern Mediterranean antiques, Roman Estruscan pottery, and Egyptian Funerary art.
Patek Philippe Museum
If you want to see a grand collection of watches and learn about watchmaking, there is no better place to visit than Patek Phillippe Museum. The museum displays Swiss and other watches, automated musical devices, and portrait miniatures from the 16 to the 19th century.
International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum informs you about the mission and work of the organization. The interactive exhibits let you about the work of the organization in the two world wars.
